Hey Folks!!!

This last repeat is from May 13, of last year. I like it for 2 reasons: One, there are NO swear words and yet I still managed to land a punch line, and two; it is one of my favorite exchanges between the two characters. There really are a number of things I like about it. I like that Loopus is actually taking a stand about something, especially since it’s completely inconsequential. Also, as I mentioned last year, this came from an actual conversation I had with story artist Rad Sechrist. Rad is an amazing artist and a remarkable teacher. However, he sometimes approaches things with a sweet naivete that I at times think he’s putting on to be funny, but at other times I think he’s being completely serious. The Rock, Paper Scissors conversation was one of those times.

Anyway, I’ve managed to work about 2 weeks ahead during this little hiatus. I plan on keeping that buffer so that when I am up against a deadline, the strip will continue without interruption.

Hey. Sorry about this, but I need a little more time to get my legs under me. I’m writing like mad to get ahead, next is the drawing part, obviously. I’ll get there, please be patient.

In the meantime, here is one of my favorites from last year. Loopus doesn’t know what Masturbation is. Oh that Loopus.

This is inspired by something me and my buddy Fergal Reilly used to do when I worked at Sony. We’d go to this Argentinian bakery near the studio for coffee everyday around 3:00pm and relax, bitch and shoot the shit. Every now and then, we’d riff on something. One of our favorite things to do was see how many different terms we could come up with for Masturbation. It’s fitting, since Henry McMackral is based loosely on Fergal, well, at least his accent is.

 This strip was originally published on July 6, 2009, about 3 or 4 days after Michael Jackson died.  I was absolutley gobsmacked that no one wrote me to tell me what a sick unfunny prick I was and that Michael Jackson deserved dignity and respect now that he was dead.

I needed to post a repeat, so I decided to use one of my favorites from the past 2 years.

Now, why am I posting a repeat after days of no updates at all? Well, because I want you to know I am still here, but work and life have overwhelmed me to the point where I need to pause, take a deep breath, and get a handle on my workload.  Be assured, it is but a short break.

I will post a new strip next Monday, the 24th and then I will go back to my Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedule.

Thanks for your patience. In the meantime, go check out the second volume of the Complete Bloom County!!!  This is the one where the strip hits it’s stride!

Hello!!!

I play bass guitar.

Kind of.

As I sit here writing this, by bass sits in the corner of my studio, mocking me.

“Why have you forsaken me? Don’t you want to pick my up and play “Crazy little Thing Called love”

or learn a Death From Above 1979 song?”

Unfortunately, there are only so many hours in a day. I complain about this a lot, don’t I? The utter lack of time to do cool things?

This is why I don’t believe in boredom. Who’s got the time?

Anyway, I hope you continue to enjoy the strip.

Now pardon me, I have to go take the dogs out, and then I will go to Lowes to buy gravel and cinderblocks for a backyard project.

Hey all!

I’ve been missing too many updates lately. Sorry about that. Same things are too blame: work, exaustion, puppies. I’m starting to get on top of it though so I’ll be able to hit Monday, Wednesday and Friday from now on.

Hey everybody!

Sorry for the unexpected hiatus. There is a lot going on both at work and at home.

I’m on a new project that needs everything done yesterday. Unfortunately, the strip takes a back seat to the work that actually keeps a roof over our heads. Still, I apologize.

Also, Sara and I adopted a pair of Jindo puppies that are cute as all get out, but incredibly energetic and needy as well. They kind of screwed up my whole comic drawing schedule for a bit, but it looks like I’m getting back on track. I’ll try to work ahead this weekend.

I hope you all are still having fun with this storyline, because it’s going to last a while. I have a few more fun things planned for the guys in this time period. Stay tuned!
